General Questions

Is asking for help a sign of weakness?  No. Asking for support takes courage. Athletes train their bodies with coaches and trainers, and support for the mind and emotions is part of training too.

What's the difference between therapy and workshops?  Therapy is individual clinical care for athletes, with parents involved as appropriate. Workshops and club services are educational. They are not therapy and don't create a therapy relationship.

How long are sessions?  Therapy sessions are 50 to 60 minutes. Workshops typically run 30 to 90 minutes, and length is listed with each event.

Do you offer virtual sessions?  Yes. I offer virtual sessions and select in-person sessions for clients in Maryland and Washington, DC.

How do I get started?  Request a consultation through the button on any page. I'll follow up to talk about your needs and next steps.

Insurance & Payment

What insurance do you accept?  Aetna, CareFirst, BlueCross BlueShield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, and Kaiser (MD). Your cost depends on your plan's copay, coinsurance, or deductible.

What if I want to pay out of pocket?  Self-pay rates are $200 for the intake and $175 per session. A superbill is available on request if you'd like to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?  Please cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. There is a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals.

Can I get a Good Faith Estimate?  Yes. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before starting services.

For Athletes & Families

What is sport social work?  Sport social work combines clinical mental health care with an understanding of sport culture. It looks at the whole athlete, including their relationships, family, coaches, team, and identity, not just their performance.

How are parents involved?  When an athlete is in therapy, parents are part of the process. Depending on the athlete's age and needs, that may include parent check-ins and guidance on supporting your athlete at home and on the sideline, while respecting your athlete's privacy.

Does this replace my athlete's coach or other providers?  No. My work complements what coaches, athletic trainers, and medical providers already do. With your permission, I can coordinate with them.

For Coaches & Clubs

Do you work with clubs, schools, and teams? Yes. I offer workshops, coach education, team-building, and culture consultation. Visit Club & Team Services or reach out through the Contact page.
